The Innocent Perception Newsletter | Monday 10th June 2024 | Bring Your Mental Self Back Home |
Dear all, Someone comes along and tells you they’ve just been to the most wonderful place they’ve ever been and urges you to visit. But that person left without leaving you a map as how to get there. You might as well not know that there is such a wonderful place, right? This is not a problem at all if we’re talking about a physical destination. It is a big problem however if it is a non-physical destination. This is where Buddha is remarkable among the ascended masters because he gives us a clear model to navigate his disciples to Nirvana in the most systematic way. While Christ uses ‘love’ as a path to reach God, Buddha uses ‘the four foundations of mindfulness’ to attain Nirvana. It is only in the past five years that the narrative of ‘going home to Source/God’ has been repeated so often by so many people on the front line of the spiritual community. Now we know that God/Nirvana is the spiritual destination we want to reach under the label Innocent Perception. Let’s connect further that those big words represent the notion of ‘home’. Meditation is the means to take us home, so to ‘bring your mental self back home’ almost needs no extra explanation. I have been using Buddha’s guidance of the four foundations of mindfulness as a tool to help my students to reach their spiritual destination, Nirvana. I apply my own technique to create a good anchor to ground one’s awareness. This is necessary at the initial stage due to heavy traffic of thoughts known as the ‘monkey mind’ people have. This is the very obstacle that hinders people from experiencing Innocent Perception. Hence, the training will transform the fast and heavy traffic of thoughts to slow down with fewer thoughts. It will get to a point where thought is subdued and practitioners experience their mental space or the Void, allowing them to view things as they are – or innocent perception. This can be done systematically under the model of the four foundations of mindfulness or bringing your mental self back home. Guided meditation will be done via live teaching or following the practice by watching the videos on my YouTube channel. To help you stay in focus and not get lost. I shall, from now on, put down the list of words that we have collected so far, all of which represent the spiritual destination. Please always remember that these are only labels referring to the same ultimate experience. To give you better perspective and a good reminder, I also put down the tool you need to reach your spiritual destination. Those terminologies refer to the same practice. Spiritual destination: Nirvana, God, Tao, Truth, Source, Void, the final frontier, Innocent Perception. The means to spiritual destination: the four foundations of mindfulness, mindfulness meditation, Vipassana, bring your mental self back home. Best wishes, Supawan |
